So many times we hear, or we quote, 2 Chronicles 7:14 when calling for our church or nation to pray in a time of crisis or need.
Lets look at verse 13 - "WHEN I (who? God's speaking) SHUT UP HEAVEN and there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among MY people,"
Verse 14 - "if MY people who are called by MY name" (Then Israel, now the redeemed, born again believers in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the Cross.) will humble thems...elves and pray and seek My face {not seek the feel good, compromising, no-repentance-necessary, itching ear-pleasing, man pleasing, social gospel that leads people into spiritual idolatry and spiritual adultery} and turn from their wicked ways -- then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
In my opinion, perhaps verse 13 -- is the reason the world is in the mess its is in. God has shut up heaven because His people, His church, has compromised the TRUTH OF GOD's WORD to that point that it no longer has the effect it should have on the world.
